Frank L Carson III | Chairman of the Board

Frank L. Carson, III began his banking career the summer of 1970 in the Bookkeeping Department of Mulvane State Bank. After graduating from Wichita State University, he joined his father at the bank and in 1990 was promoted to President. Upon the death of Frank L. Carson, Jr. he became Chairman, President, and CEO. When, in January 2016, his son Frank L. Carson, IV became President and CEO, Frank maintained his office as Chairman.

Frank’s civic involvement includes serving as a Director and Treasurer of the Kansas Society for Children with Challenges, Director and Treasurer of Rural Water District #3 Sedgwick County, Chairman of the Kansas All Star Scholars Fund, Chairman of the Mulvane Education Foundation, and Co-Chairs the Mulvane Downtown Revitalization Committee.

Professionally, he has chaired the Consumer Credit Committee, State Affairs Committee, Federal Affairs Committee, and the Board of Directors of the Kansas Bankers Association (KBA); past chairman of the Consumer Credit Committee, member of the Community Bankers Council, and member of the Government Relations Administrative Council of the American Bankers Association (ABA). He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Office of the State Bank Commissioner (OSBC).

Frank and his wife Kris, a retired English Teacher and member of the Boards of Carson Bank and Mulvane Bankshares, Inc., have four married children and seven grandchildren.

Frank L Carson IV | President and CEO

Frank L. Carson IV began his banking career after graduating from Kansas State University in 2003 with a degree in business management. He accepted a full-time position with Carson Bank in 2004.

Professionally, Frank served as a member of Kansas Bankers Association’s (KBA) Bank Leaders of Kansas in 2006, was a 2009 graduate of the Graduate Schools of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin, and in the 2015 class of Leadership Wichita. In 2014 Frank became a member of the Board of Directors and in January 2016 was promoted to President and CEO of Carson Bank.

Currently, Frank serves as vice chair of the GSB-Madison Banker Advisory Board, representative on the GSB Board of Trustees, representative on the GSB Curriculum Advisory Committee, and a member of KBA’s State Affairs Committee and PAC Committee. Frank enjoys spending time with his family, Kansas State Sports, and outdoor activities.

Scott A. Nelson

Scott A. Nelson | Chief Financial Officer

Prior to joining Carson Bank in 2006, Scott spent 9 years in the insurance industry. Graduating from Wichita State University in1995, he went on to receive his MBA from Baker University in 2003. He is also a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Throughout his career, he has been active with numerous charitable and civic organizations.

R. Gary McGuire

R. Gary McGuire | President, Carson Insurance Group

Joining Carson Bank in 2006, Gary McGuire is responsible for the leadership of Carson Insurance Group. Having spent the last twenty seven years in the insurance industry, he is licensed to sell Property/Casualty, Commercial and Life Insurance. He serves on the Kansas All Stars Scholars Board and is a member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Optimist Club. He and his wife, Kim, a semi-retired teacher, have three grown sons, two daughter in laws, and 3 grandchildren. They look forward to weekends in Manhattan supporting the K-State football team.

Grant Roskam

Grant Roskam| Executive Vice President-Commercial Lending

Prior to joining Carson Bank in July of 2002, Grant worked for nearly 20 years at Commerce Bank as a Consumer Loan Manager and Senior Credit Officer in the Private Banking Division of the Commerce Trust Department. As Carson Bank’s Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer, he is responsible for managing all aspects of the bank’s lending division, including Consumer, Residential, and Commercial Lending.

Grant is a graduate of the College of Financial Planning in Boulder, Colorado. He attended Wichita State University and is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He is also a graduate of the Bankers School for Supervisory Training at Louisiana State University.

A community advocate, Grant is an active member of the Wichita Independent Business Association. He also volunteers his time for HeartSpring and serves on the building committee at his church. Previously, he has worked with the Arthritis Foundation, March of Dimes, Wichita Lifeline, and Kansas Elks Training Center for the Handicapped.

Grant resides in Wichita with his wife, Kim.

Roberta Payne

Roberta L. Payne | Senior Vice President and Cashier

A graduate of Wichita State University, Roberta Payne worked part-time at Carson Bank throughout her college career as a bookkeeper, teller, and loan processor. Since joining the bank full time in 1996, she has served as assistant cashier and customer service representative. Currently, she manages the Deposit Operations for the bank's four branches. Roberta also served as a member of the Mulvane Public Library Board for eight years. She and her husband, Dan, enjoy a variety of outdoor activities and spending time with their family.

Susan Downey

Susan Downey | Senior Vice President-Commercial Lending

Susan Downey’s 28 years in banking encompasses commercial lending, credit administration, loan review, retail lending, loan operations and even a short stint in deposit operations. Since joining the bank in 2011, she has put her wide range of expertise to work contributing to Carson Bank’s ability to foresee and expertly adapt to our customers’ ever-changing financial needs. Susan attended Emporia State University and graduated with Honors from Graduate Banking School in Boulder, Colorado. Susan and her husband, Stan, enjoy traveling and will be planning more trips when their youngest son graduates from college.

Mark Koch

Mark Koch | Senior Vice President-Commercial Lender

Possessing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with a major in Finance, Mark began his banking career in 1983 while attending WSU. To expand his banking education, Mark attended the Illinois Bankers Association Schools of Banking and Kansas Bankers Association Schools of Banking and Commercial Lending School. Before joining Carson Bank in 2013, Mark had worked in all aspects of the banking industry but for the last 20 years has focused primarily on Commercial Lending. He currently serves as Vice-President on the Board of Starkey, Inc., is on the board of directors for KANSEL and Wichita Manufacturing Association, and is the Reading is Fundamental (RIF) project coordinator with the Wichita Downtown Rotary. Mark has two grown children and one granddaughter.

Beckie Bowers

Beckie Bowers | Vice President

Beckie began her banking career in Hutchinson where she lived for 28 years before moving back home to Mulvane in 2005. She joined Carson Bank in 2005 as Branch Manager for our Clock Tower location and in 2007 was moved to the Main Bank as Asst. Vice-President and Teller Supervisor. In 2013, she successfully completed the School of Banking in Grand Island, NE. Active in the Mulvane United Methodist Church, she sings in the choir, serves on the Good Samaritan Board, and is the Finance Committee chairperson. Beckie enjoys music, gardening, and spending time with her two sons, grandchildren, and friends.

Keith Kerr

Keith Kerr | Market Manager

Born and raised as a Derby Panther, Keith joined Carson Bank in 2015. After graduating from Pittsburg State University with a degree in Business Administration, he returned to Derby and began his banking career working for a nationwide bank. He held a variety of positions within the bank with an emphasis on fostering of new customer relationships and assisting consumer and small business customers with their lending needs. Keith and his wife, Natalie, a USD 260 Teacher, along with their two children enjoy backyard BBQ’s with family and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.

Penny Sourivong

Penny Sourivong | Assistant Branch Manager

After graduating from Derby High School in 2008, Penny accepted a part time position as a teller with Carson Bank. Eight years and multiple promotions later, Penny is now the Assistant Branch Manager of Carson Bank’s Derby location. Combining her vast knowledge in all aspects of consumer banking with her years of experience and customer-first attitude, she has established herself as an integral part of the Carson Bank team. In her free time Penny loves traveling the country and spending time with her family and friends.

Preston Madding

Preston Madding | Assistant Branch Manager

Preston began working for Carson Bank as a part time teller in 2010 while attending Wichita State University. He received a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from Wichita State University in 2013. Holding a variety of positions within the bank has increased his ability to better serve the bank’s customers and assist his co-workers. Preston also teaches Sunday school at his church and is the Treasurer for a Sedgwick County Commissioner.
